UK VAPING DUTY TIMELINE
1 APRIL 2026
HMRC APPLICATIONS OPEN
All vape manufacturers, brand owners and importers must register with HMRC for UK duty stamp approval
Retailers: no action required yet
1 OCTOBER 2026
VAPE DUTY STARTS
Vape duty tax applies to all vape products released for sale from this date. All new stock must carry an official UK duty stamp on the packaging
Retailers: must only buy HMRC-compliant stamped products
UNTIL 1 APRIL 2027
TRANSITION PERIOD
Retailers can continue selling non-stamped stock purchased before Oct 2026
No new unstamped stock can be bought after Oct 2026
From 1 April 2027, all products must be stamped to be sold legally
